Salt & Honey is a collection of poems about the beauty and ache of being human. Through themes of love, loss, healing, and hope, each piece blends the sting of salt with the sweetness of honey, capturing life's bittersweet moments and the strength found within them. Inspired by my great-grandma, a woman who always saw the positive side of everything, strong as a rock, ready to forgive, always giving. Thank you for everything! We'll meet in between words and say bye with the sunset.

My 7th poetry book. But in many ways this is my 1st poetry book as I will independently publish this under my own ISBN. This poetry book captures a very special time in my life. It is a time capsule of the 2 years of long distance that I am going through and this book will only be complete in November when I am finally married as the story that this book tells is one of the road leading up to marriage and all the anticipation that comes with being on that road. If only things had been different. If only I had been better, if only I would have put more effort in. Would it make a difference? Would anything have changed? This is written for everyone who has spent time wondering about "what if" because your imagination can't be controlled by the present. To all those who think back and ask themselves if only, because you can't be satisfied with what happened.

what drew your attention to this book? was it the delicate red rose on the cover? ... or was it its thorns? yes, the rose is daintily alluring, but you will only notice the thorns once you take a closer look. i like to imagine my poetry as this thorned rose, my carefully arranged words as its delicate petals: its beauty seemingly pleasing from afar. however, once you take a closer look, you will gradually see the thorns: a deeper and darker meaning disguised behind enriched metaphors. looking at the rose, you would also notice how it is hand drawn, denoting the fact that my poetry might not be perfect. it is intentionally written with some incorrect grammar (for instance, how almost all words are in lowercase) to give a more raw feel in the sense of how one may write down in a personal diary. the name "the rose comes with thorns" is not only an embodiment of my poetry writing style, but also the meaning behind it. just like how everything beautiful comes with its own flaws... ...the rose shall come with its own thorns. 🥀THE ROSE COMES WITH THORNS a poetry book written by huma zafar. #1 in "poem" out of 206k stories (2/5/24) #18 in "poetry" out of 336k stories (1/6/24)

Originally published in 2021, "Whalesongs" is a collection of poetry focused on human relationships, marine life, and science. Three years after the initial compilation, I have decided to revisit these compulsive works and revise the collection as a whole.
