Once every five years, every citizen of The United States receives a randomized branding. People with green brandings are safe, but red brand recipients are executed at the Reaping. Hailey Reed lives in fear that each year will be her last. After all, Hailey's mother received a red branding and was sentenced to death. All Hailey has left is her dad, Jack. They have an unbreakable bond, but everything changes when Hailey gets a red branding on Assignment Day. Scared and devastated, Jack is willing to do whatever it takes to keep Hailey safe from The Reaping. Will Jack be able to keep Hailey alive even if he has to risk everything?
