Aspenkit is just your typical ShadowClan kit: he has a mother and father who adore him, littermates who play with him, and a whole Clan of cats who help support and raise a young warrior such as himself. As he grows, he learns much about the life of the Clan and the rules of the forest through his mentor and father, and begins to find his place in all of it. However, things change when Aspenpaw witnesses a series of deaths early in his apprenticeship that shakes the Clan and alerts him to a deeper danger that threatens to completely upend the balance of the four Clans. Soon, the arrival of an apprentice fleeing for her life from ThunderClan brings the balance of the forest down, and throws Aspenpaw into a war that'll change his life forever.

The truth about Thistleclaw's actions came to light, but stories don't have a happy ending all the time. As the effects of his wrongdoings leave their mark on more than one innocent life and more than one Clan, StarClan itself is speechless as the destinies it had envisioned for different cats shift abruptly.
