Kate and her older brother, Jay, escape from the oppressive St. Johanna orphanage, where they have spent the last ten years. Their goal is freedom and the fulfillment of their dreams, a dream that Jay calls "the theater of dreams". Thanks to their musical talent, the two siblings attract the attention of Peter, a guitarist in a local band called Waft. Peter invites them to join the band and, Kate and Jay, find themselves immersed in a new world of music, opportunities and inspiring people.
