He had never imagined that the girl he once called his faith would look at him like he was a stranger. He tried to hold her hand. She pushed him away and shouted, "MAINE POOCHA AAPNE KYA KAHA THA KAL PAPA SE?" He couldn't speak. As if something was choking his throat. Red eyes. Silent tears. Fear. Not of being wrong - but of losing her. "...Divorce." The word barely escaped his lips. A loud slap followed. Her world shattered. "So you're leaving me?" she whispered, broken. He closed his eyes, nodded slowly. She trembled. Held his hands. Kissed them. "Just once... say it's a lie, Jaana..." Her tears fell on his hands like drops of pain. "I'll die without you." Her voice cracked, her soul screamed. She fell to his feet. Begging. Crying. Shaking. "Please don't leave me, Jaana... please... take me with you..." No one stopped him. No one held her. Through the eyes of an abuser but make no mistake this is not an excuse. "Why the glum face? Lighten up a little, Jeong!" Minji encouraged, softly elbowing her in the ribs while she danced to the intoxicating music. "I shouldn't be so sad." Jeong reminded herself, swaying to the rhythm of the music. She tried to get into the flow of the song but she just couldn't. Thoughts lingered in her mind. "The party's fun isn't it?" Someone next to her asked. Jeong turned around only to realize she didn't recognize them. "Yeah." She agreed solemnly. "So why do you act like it isn't?" They questioned. "W-what?" Jeong stumbled over her words. "Why do you act like your life is horrible when thousands of other people are experiencing the same things as you?" They snapped. Jeong blinked once, twice, her breath caught in her throat. Finally, she realized who she was talking to. The mirror. What do you call it when life doesn't suck but you're still depressed? When life is decent enough but you still don't want to be here anymore? Join 18 year old Jeong Hyun on her adventures through life.
