Dean and Cas have been together for a few months at this point, and they've never been happier, they go on hunts together they try to see Claire more, and on one hunt together, where they have to pretend to be married, Dean decides that he wants out. Out of the hunters life. He wants to have a normal life with Cas, where they get married, where they have kids, and a family.
But he's not sure how to tell Cas, or even if Cas wants the same thing. For all Dean knows Cas wants to stay a Hunter.
But one night, their just lying in bed, Dean on his phone and Cas watching Netflix, Dean looks over at Cas as he yells at the Tv about whatever's happening, smiling at his boyfriend, thinking about how lucky he is, and he just blurts it out.
"Let's get out," Dean said.
The room went quiet, save for the dramatic orchestral swells of the glass-blowing show.
Cas blinked, his brow furrowing as he turned his head to look at Dean. "Of the bunker?" he asked, his voice tilting with a hint of confusion. "Are you hungry? I believe there is still leftover pizza, though Sam mentioned it looked suspicious."
Dean let out a small, breathless chuckle. He set his phone down on the nightstand and turned fully toward Cas, his expression softening into something vulnerable, something he usually kept locked behind iron bars.
"Of hunting," Dean explained, his voice dropping an octave. "Of this life. Have a normal one."
Cas stared at him. The confusion didn't vanish; it deepened. He sat up a bit straighter, the hoodie shifting on his shoulders. "Dean?"
"Me, you, Claire... even Jack, if he wants too" Dean said, the words coming faster now, fuelled by a nervous energy that made his fingers twitch. "Just a normal life. A house. A yard. A place where we don't have to check the salt lines every time the wind blows. A place where 'Agent' isn't the only thing people call us."
