“You do it like this.” he pushed the button and the paper went back to the place he shot at. “Just stand with your legs apart and shoulders strong,” he adjusted my posture. I felt tingly as he rubbed his hands along my hips to adjust me to the right posture. “Now click the safety,” as I did this the blood was pumping and I was super excited. I was about to shoot a gun for the first time. “Whenever you’re ready” he spoke still standing behind me. I aimed at the target and shot. One…two…three…four It was exhilarating, better than anything I had ever done before. The feeling of the backfire and ricochet off of the target. It was like I could handle anything that was thrown at my way. I would defiantly have to have him teach me how to do more."

An Old man travels alone through the mountains, his only companion being his beloved stallion. On a search for a runaway boy, the old hunter tracks his prey through the wilds. His trade is grim, and some even say dishonorable, but it's what he knows, and honor can't put bread in your mouth, or ale in your belly. Oh his journey Verick the Hunter will remember more about himself that he would sooner have forgotten, and find much that would he rather have stayed lost. "Our lives, it seems, are much like the campfire here" He mused, tossing a few more sticks into the flames. "We start out so young, so full of promise, such a fire to be released from within us. As we burn out our youth, so bright and so hot, you'd think we'd go on burning so brilliantly forever. However, it seems that no matter how bright our flame, no matter how brilliant our passion. Eventually though, we all fade. In the end, we are all as embers in the dawn, slowly crackling out our last sparks as we fade"

No one is perfect, especially not me. We are all broken people looking to relate and heal. "From a Sinner's Heart" is primarily a collection of poems but may contain personal essays and whatever else I write about pertaining to brokenness, healing, and spiritual searching - whether mine or observed. This book is incomplete and will be updated sporadically as I'll write pieces fitting it when inspired to. **Note: Much of the work in "From a Sinner's Heart" will have religious themes.
