Seclusion Stories

A social outcast in the (fictional) town of Tenby, Colorado, Kira Bowman spends her time taking photographs of nature, longing for the day when her family isn't too broke to take her to Niagara Falls. But her life changes when she meets a fellow loner, who will force her to make a heartbreaking decision between friendship, and the dream she has been waiting to achieve since she could walk.

This is the poem that I will be using in my new/future novel, Seclusion. Yes, I did write this myself :)

Dana yearns to escape into her scribbling art, books and fantasies in her cozy nice little cottage. But it gets broken into and she learns it's not the first time either. Mike is a rugged traveller by choice. And after finding Dana he decides to put down his bags for good. The sanctuary that was her cottage is now the one thing Dana wants to get out of.

I was given a picture (the one on the cover) as a prompt in creative writing and told to write a poem based on the picture. This is what I came up with... Seclusion. Seclusion is a poem about the anxiety that some people experience.

Myla is an ordinary girl, studying at a local college. However, just after graduating and moving to New York city to have a better chance of finding jobs. She found herself more anxious each day as she took on more interviews, feeling that a weird shadow is always creeping behind her... I begin to rock back and forth a top a wall, unaware how I got here, my knees still hugged into my chest. It seems the more I rock the closer I am to plummeting to the ground, I continue, hoping to fall and end the torture I am feeling inside and out. With one last rock I fall back, screaming at the sudden jerk of my body. Falling seems as if an eternity, and the closer I get to the ground, my sweet release, the slower I fall. Rain continues to pour, thunder and lightening blocking any sound of my crying. And it finally happens, I hit the ground. I jolt up as my back hits and scream in agony. Then I see it.
