Shame Stories

Letters for My Mother is a collection of letters from a daughter who loves her mother but is also angry at her. It's about the guilt of wishing she had been different, the shame of feeling that way, and the quiet ache of still wanting her love. These letters are not gentle-they are what's left when love has no other place to go but the page.

What is HIV? What is AIDS? HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is a virus that attacks the immune system, the body's natural defense system. Without a strong immune system, the body has trouble fighting off disease. Both the virus and the infection it causes are called HIV. White blood cells are an important part of the immune system. HIV infects and destroys certain white blood cells called CD4+ cells. If too many CD4+ cells are destroyed, the body can no longer defend itself against infection. The last stage of HIV infection is AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). People with AIDS have a low number of CD4+ cells and get infections or cancers that rarely occur in healthy people. These can be deadly. But having HIV doesn't mean you have AIDS. Even without treatment, it takes a long time for HIV to progress to AIDS-usually 10 to 12 years. When HIV is diagnosed before it becomes AIDS, medicines can slow or stop the damage to the immune system. If AIDS does develop, medicines can often help the immune system return to a healthier state.

Everything that is swept under the filthy carpet of the principle's office and behind those classroom doors will be revealed and given an award. But there's a catch... along with a reward comes a punishment, with the whole school as the audience to witness everything coming out of the shadows. Read ahead to experience a dystopian set education system where justice is served within it's own premises.

Alice is a mystery to all those who wonder. Alice has somehow left her life behind without any word. No one knows how this happened but one person seems to blame himself, that person is Matthew Graham. Matthew Graham is an average boy, and he feels as though Alice being gone is his fault. No one knows why she left, not even her parents but Matthew will not let her leave and give up like that, she is worth the fight. Matthew decides to write her some letters (23) and each letter gives her a reason why she is worth the fight and should return and give him, life, and love another chance. Will Matthew's letters reach Alice. Will Alice read them? Will Matthew's letters bring back Alice, will she forgive him? Is Matthew the real reason why she left, and if not then who? Only time will tell if love is true for these two.
