Daijuro Moriyama wasn't supposed to exist.
Created in a lab by villains, engineered with twelve different Quirks, and designed to be the perfect weapon, he should have been a monster. But when the facility that made him collapsed, he walked away and spent years living wild in the mountains, more comfortable with animals than people.
Now he's sixteen and trying to figure out how to be a hero at UA High School.
The problem? He doesn't understand jokes. He can't tell when people are being sarcastic. He takes everything literally. Social cues might as well be a foreign language. And his appearance, massive size, white eyes, and protruding fangs, makes people cross the street to avoid him.
But Daijuro has something most heroes don't. A heart that wants to protect everyone, even when he doesn't understand them.
Under the care of Principal Nezu, the only person who ever treated him like a real person instead of a weapon or a threat, Daijuro joins Class 1A. His classmates don't know what to make of the gentle giant who can grow to the size of a building, who never feels pain, who can fight for days without getting tired, and who asks them to explain why people laugh at things that aren't funny.
Some are scared. Some are curious. Some just think he's weird.
But as they train together, fight together, and slowly become friends, Class 1A starts to realize something. Daijuro might not understand people, but he understands something more important. How to care about them anyway.
This is a story about a boy who was made to destroy learning how to protect. About finding family when you've never had one. About being different in a world that fears what it doesn't understand.
And maybe, just maybe, about finding out that being human isn't about how you were born. It's about who you choose to be.
