It is the year 2035. My name is Addi. I am 13 years old. I live with my dad. I never met my mom. I have been trapped in this world some people like to call life. There is now way out. I am the only one who seems to be bothered by the way we live. I want to change it. The president snow ruined everything. He was elected 10 years ago. He made the law he would be president until he dies. He made him self president of the world. Everytime he sees a poor person looking for a place to sleep he takes them in to his home and makes them sleep on the bed of nails. That is why me and my dad stay hidden. We never leave. We stay in the house as much as we can. We don't have a lot of money so we ask neighboors to help us or get us some food. My dad says every morning "In 2000 things were great. I wish you knew Addi." Then he goes into his room and I can hear him crying. I want to know the world the way dad does but I have to wait. My dad hates life on Earth. He crys in his room until he can pull himself together. I don't like seeing daddy cry. I don't know why he crys. Maybe it is something that he knows will happen in the future. When he comes out of his room he says "I am sorry Addi. There is so much going on in this world you don't know about." Then he gets this look in his eye that shows me he is thinking of mom. I start thinking too. Daddy tells me shy died when I was 4 months old. I want her back. I can remember everything about her. She had dark hair and had the sweetest voice. I don't know if this is true, but I think the president or government had something to do with her death, and I want to find out. That is the only reason for life. Or that is what I like to think. Dad is my only living family member I have that is alive. And I want to know why. That is the only reason I am still living.
