She is starting to feel trapped and desires more for herself. She isn't quite sure what that is yet. Ramona is the composer for her younger hermano's mariachi band. They are growing in success but need something to take them further. The timing of a new stranger by the name of Cecilia, stumbling into town with one of the most inviting singing voices seems just what the band needs. Ramona and her hit it off right away, having a connection quite like neither of them have experienced before. Ramona begins to write more and more, her talent flourishing, and the band benefiting and growing in popularity. Could this have been the chance Ramona was always hoping for? It is 1968 in Mexico and a song of civil rights movements across the states rings louder than the loudest mariachi cry. While so much change is on the horizon, centuries of tradition and limitation are still very much so alive. Travelling out of her small town with the band will show Ramona all of this. Cecilia is there with her ever step of the way and feelings form. The complexities of desires and how they fit into the world that currently surrounds her, will follow Ramona. She has a voice both in her music and beyond. She is destined to write a song of love and strength, it will take time, but it might just be her best composition yet.
