The dead hand of history still grips the throat of the present. Three centuries after a meteor shower struck Earth, humanity is divided between the powered and the originals. One group changed. One did not. In the years that followed, a virus killed billions, twisted the natural world into something monstrous, and gave fear a shape to blame. The powered have carried that blame ever since. Collared, controlled, and sent beyond the city walls, they are forced to fight the mutations that roam the wilds while the originals stay safe behind the walls. Ezra, a doctor, refuses to accept the world's clean divisions. He treats anyone who needs him, believing every life has value, even in a city built on deciding otherwise. When one act of mercy toward a stranger pulls him into a hidden war, Ezra begins to uncover the truth buried beneath generations of fear. Tension between originals and powered reach a breaking point, and Ezra faces a choice that could alter the course of humanity. One where the line between saving and destroying becomes increasingly blurred.

THE DIVIDE One school. Two worlds. One terrible secret. At Westbridge Academy, the rules are simple. Students either pay tuition or receive financial aid. The two groups never meet. They never share classes, eat in the same cafeteria, or even walk the same halls. Questions aren't encouraged, and curiosity has a way of disappearing. Seventeen-year-old Lark Foster has spent her entire life accepting that some things simply aren't meant to be understood. But when a chance encounter leads her beyond the invisible boundary separating the two student populations, she discovers that the divide isn't about money. It's about control. Behind the walls of Westbridge lies a hidden world where students aren't just educated; they're studied. Every test score, every emotion, every decision is part of something far larger than anyone could imagine. Someone has been watching them all along. As Lark and a small group of unlikely allies race to uncover the truth, they find themselves hunted by the very institution that raised them. And the deeper they dig, the more terrifying the truth becomes: The experiments were never the goal. They were only the beginning.

Dr. Cally Medlin is having a bad day. She's so close to finding a remedy for Tauria's decades-long crop failure, but now the planet's central government has collapsed, people are rioting, her uncle has disappeared, everyone's after her research notes, and she and her five-year-old daughter have just been kidnapped by a half-Taurian soldier in dirty fatigues, who now insists she marry him. "We have to become attached," says Major Taschereau, using the Taurian word for marriage. "It's the only way to keep you both safe." "Why would we be any safer after I marry you?" Cally protests. "Because the Clan lords respect the concept of private property." "Oh, yes, of course," she says with all the contempt she can muster. "Wives and children are property here. How could I forget? But what about the Technicians? The Conglomerate? None of them will give a damn whether we're married. They'll grab me the first chance they get." Tasch half turned towards her. His pale Taurian eyes examined her every curve and a smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. "One power-hungry group of megalomaniacs at a time, Doctor. My job is to get you and your daughter and your research through 1000 miles of clan territory first. This is the safest way. I have to claim you." Cally looked at the rough and ready man before her and thought of the millions of ways this plan of his could go terribly wrong - or terribly right.

Elias Mercer arrives at Wendy Gazab's office carrying his own death certificate. According to every government record, every transit authority, and every department that matters, he's been dead for six weeks. The only problem is he's standing in front of her asking for help. As Wendy digs into the impossible case, she discovers that Elias wasn't just murdered. His death was officially approved before it happened. Someone filed the paperwork first, then made reality obey. Every answer leads deeper into a city where forgotten departments still issue orders, dissolved agencies continue operating in secret, and bureaucracy has become powerful enough to rewrite history itself. Witnesses change overnight. Records edit themselves. Buildings that no longer exist keep processing official documents. The closer Wendy gets to the truth, the more reality begins correcting her investigation out of existence. To save a man the world insists is already dead, Wendy must uncover who turned paperwork into a weapon before she becomes the next name quietly removed from the system. A dark mystery blending bureaucratic horror, cosmic conspiracy, razor-sharp satire, and impossible investigations, where the most dangerous words in the world are "Your paperwork has been processed."

ECHO//ERROR - Series Description What if the people the world forgot... never truly disappeared? Five strangers. Five different lives. One impossible coincidence. When Den, Ares, Baz, Dion, and Ace survive an event that should have erased them from existence, they awaken in a hidden world beneath reality-a place where forgotten memories are preserved, abandoned train stations never appear on maps, and mysterious beings known as Echoes continue to exist only because someone, somewhere, still remembers them. Guided by the enigmatic Conductor, haunted by relentless Collectors, and judged by an ancient force called the Auditor, the five discover that they are no longer ordinary people. They are Echoes-living memories caught between life and oblivion. As they unravel the secrets of the Archive, the Garden of Names, Platform Zero, and the forgotten history hidden beneath the world's memories, they must answer a question far more terrifying than whether they can survive: If the world forgets you... who are you? Bound not by blood but by the family they choose to become, Den, Ares, Baz, Dion, and Ace learn that love, grief, identity, and memory are stronger than fate itself. Blending science fiction, mystery, psychological suspense, supernatural fantasy, heartfelt comedy, and a moving queer found-family narrative, ECHO//ERROR is a story about the people we lose, the memories we keep, and the extraordinary courage required to choose hope in a world determined to forget. Because sometimes... The greatest miracle isn't being remembered. It's choosing to remember someone else.

The world runs on a lie of stability. For generations, the Guardians have scrubbed the records, smoothed the contradictions, and redirected the curious to ensure humanity never looks down. They believe that as long as the system remains internally consistent, the truth doesn't matter. But a single discrepancy has slipped through their filters-a thought that refuses to resolve, a pattern that matches the dying of the stars. As the pressure beneath reality begins to resonate with the cooling heavens, the boundary between containment and contact is thinning. The truth isn't coming for the world; it has always been here, waiting for someone to finally notice.

The Earth is finally dying. Humans have been doing wrong time and time again, failing to understand their mistakes. Eventually, history closes in on itself. Humans, now selfish and arrogant, fail to understand the importance of history and nature. Benji is a walking contradiction. He empathizes, but embodies selfish behaviour. One day, his entire life changes with a selfless, yet simple action. Little does he know, this could give him just what he needed all along. Maybe with his story, humans can also understand the wrongdoings of their actions. Maybe we can learn how to heal ourselves and the world. _________________________________________________________________________________ ***unfinalized*** this story was a narative essay that was assigned in my english class. it ends abruptly and some parts are patchy because i tried to finish it within the deadline. I hope you enjoy! If it surpasses enough views, i'll probably start working on making it longer, and fixing parts of the story. This story is also very short too! i hope that i'll be able to add more sci-fi-y elements to it soon ______________________________________________________________________________ ***Update!*** New epilogues coming soon! I've decided to jump into the latest smackdown hosted by LayethTheSmackDown and Ooorah. This is where I'll be posting my entries. It's been fun and challenging doing these in the past and it's good motivation to churn out some stories. I haven't managed to win one yet, but in a way that's beside the point. Hopefully I can last a few rounds, but if not, that's okay, too. Good luck to all who decide to participate!
