Life used to be better. Peter had both his mom and dad in his life. He loved his little world in good old Queens, New York, surrounded by friends and family. But not everything lasts forever. Before he knew it, his 12th birthday arrived-and that day changed everything. The next morning, Peter walked through the door after a long and boring day of school to find his parents packing for what looked like a business trip. He barely got a word in before he was rushed out of the house, onto a plane, and dropped off at his aunt and uncle's home in Musutafu, Japan. His parents told him they'd only be gone for a couple of days. But days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and months into a year. They never came back. Now 14, Peter is in his second year of junior high, and his only friend is Kyoka Jiro, someone he met during his first year. The two quickly bonded over their shared interests. Peter had been especially looking forward to their upcoming end-of-year science field trip to U.A.'s science department.
