Minsan ba naisip mo na sa dami ng tao sa mundo, sino kaya ang para sayo. Madalas mag kamali ang bawat isa sa atin yung tipong akala mo yun na, sya na ... hanggang dulo pero hindi pala. Bibitawan ka din pala sa huli. Ang masakit pa nag-iwan pa ng mga alaala na mahirap kalimutan. Sabi nga nila, ang pag-big daw dapat di iniintay. .. kasi habang iniintay mas lalong natatagalan. at dapat din hindi hinahanap.. kasi habang hinahanp mo ang taong para sayo.. mas lalong di mo makikita... Minsan para ma-appreciate mo yung saya, kailangan mo munang maging malungkot.. para ma-appreciate mo yung halaga ng isang bagay,, kailangan munang mawala sayo ito.. at ang pinaka masaklap, para ma-appreciate mo yung pag mamahal, kailangan mo munang masaktan... Hindi lahat nagtatapos sa happy ending, Gaya ng kwentong ito, na puro sakit, punong-puno ng sakit, hanggang sa wala nang maramdaman at nasanay na sa sakit na dulot ng pag-ibig...

A collection of dark poems and haiku from award winning author Cynthia Ruby, 3rd place winner of the West Texas 100,000 Poets For Change 2013 event in slam poetry and grand prize winner in the haiku category that same year. These works are very diverse in their subject matter and style and were written over a 20 year span. This volume includes pieces previously published in anthologies and academic literary magazines. Rubies From The Heart: Dark Poetry was a nominee in Metamorph Publishing's 2016 Summer Indie Book Awards. Some select pieces in this work have been performed as live spoken word by Cynthia.
