The star ship Enterprise is casually flying through space when they come across a small gas planet. The ship's sensors pick up life in a small human-sized pod. Unable to board the object, they use the ship's beam to pull it out of the planet's outer atmosphere. Once the object is safely out of the gas planet's orbit, they beam aboard the life form they have discovered. While in sickbay, Dr. Beverly Crusher is examining the young female about 23 years old and discovers that she is from the year 2020. Shocked with this discovery, she informs the captain. Dr. Crusher fears when the young Jane Doe wakes up, she will be very shocked and frightened, Crusher even acknowledges the fact the young girl may fear Data, a living android. But the crew will do everything in their power to make her comfortable and figure out how she got there, and if they can send her back to the past!

James T. Kirk was confident in his path in life. Just one more year in the academy and he'd graduate and be a captain in no time. But, while he still can, he was gonna have his fun with the female population of the academy. Except sometimes, things don't go exactly to plan. What would be the fun if they did? Jayla Bella Kirk is that twin. she is his other half and gets him out of trouble most of the time. She is incredibly smart and can think on her feet. She is witty, sarcastic, sweet but stands up to what she believes In and most of the time hates how much trouble her brother gets them into but will always stand up for him even when he doesn't deserve it. So what will happen when they set out on a journey with starfleet? Will they make a new family? Will they live up to their fathers expectations? Will they fall In love? I decided to write this three shot and give it a try because it's basically Captain Kirk and the rest of the Enterprise Crew are approached by a water Nymph and are transformed into mermaids and are given a chance to explore the ocean and see what it's like!! When she decided to come back to further her studies in starfleet, she hadn't expected it to be with a man who couldn't stop spewing incoherent southern metaphors who never seemed to run out of ways to complain about something. And another man who just couldn't say no to a dare, nor ever seemed to back down from a fight even though he knows he'll lose. Yet had the noblest heart she had ever seen. What she never in a million years expected, was when she realized she had fallen in love with the second one.

After Counselor Dianna Troi transferred ships the spot is taken by Anita Harper, a Leptailulus from J1407. Being one of the only people of her race to serve the federation, her loneliness and understanding of emotions/psychology seems to make a certain android interested in learning from her. Will the two benefit from each other's company, will they each meet their goals, or are their dreams too far out in the unexplored vastness of space to achieve?
