The story it's taking from is "Cannetella," about a princess who refuses to marry, makes an impossible ask of her father, and needs to be saved from the sorcerer who exploited that opportunity. It's a darker story, so I'd recommend it for older audiences. I challenged myself to write a version that was more available to modern audiences and adapting it into a Barbie story just sounded "correct."
