Through the book, Thomas learns the truth: the town's racism and its sick obsession with Halloween are not merely cultural, but the result of an ancient, supernatural entity known only as "Halloween". With the help of Judith, a fifteen-year-old girl he befriends at school, Thomas will go beyond the limits of reason and fear to confront the entity itself-determined to destroy Halloween and free Casttelle from its eternal dominion, with help to Judith and the book. This is the origin of Halloween.
