࣪⊹ ࣪ ˖ 💌 ₊ ⊹ "The only thing better than Hairspray, that's me!" Loretta Hayes has spent two years working behind the scenes at The Corny Collins Show, where her job is simple: keep the broadcast running and stay out of the spotlight. She's good at both. But when a quick fix during a live show catches Corny Collins' attention, the golden boy host suddenly starts noticing the girl who's been standing in the wings all along. And as Baltimore begins to change and tensions rise both on and off camera, Loretta finds herself caught between ambition, racial prejudice, old rivalries, and a man whose smile looks a little less perfect the closer she gets to him. After all, television only shows what's happening under the lights. Not the real story happening backstage.

"I know it's wrong. Wanting someone else-his brother, of all people. But I can't help it. He feels like the connection I've been aching for my whole life." Amelia is sixteen, with a soul made for the stage and a fire she can't quite tame. School is hell for her - a place where creativity goes to die and no one really sees her. Sure, she has friends, but no real connection. It's like she's always performing, even offstage. The theater is her home. The stage is the only place where her mind finally goes quiet - where she doesn't have to think about her father, her boyfriend, school, or her past. The theater is her now, and everyone else's once upon a time. "What the hell is that girl doing to me? I've been with plenty of girls-but this one, she sees me. Every time I put on the mask, every time I puff up my ego, she cuts right through it. It drives me crazy... and I love it." Manuel is a misunderstood soul. Soft on the inside, armored on the outside. The mask he's worn for so long has become part of him. Years of being overlooked in favor of his younger brother taught him to shrink in silence, to protect his heart with sarcasm and ego. He's distant. Confusing. Impossible to read. But on stage? That's where he shines. That's where he becomes someone his parents might finally look at - really look at. But behind the curtain, something in him shifts. Drawn to a soul he somehow already knows- with a summer glow and curls that dance through his mind like a memory. Their eyes say everything their lips aren't allowed to. Because onstage, they speak someone else's love. But behind the scenes... something real begins to echo between the lines.

That Guy From History Do you ever just look at someone and go 'hmm how have i never noticed them before' that was what it was like when i finally recognized that guy from history. Every last period for the past two months this boy sat directly infront of me and we exchanged exactly zero words until the accident. He was gorgeous but what happens when you mix a guilty conscience and good looks.

Juliet Speare is a theatre kid. She comes from a long line of theatre kids- on both sides of her family. The theatre is her second home. She goes to a private school, so there aren't as many kids at the school. She is the only theatre kid there. This makes her "different." She has friends, but not a best friend. Nobody understands theatre. A theatre kid is all anybody thinks of her as. Juliet Speare, the theatre kid. Everyone else is the best at something. "She's the fastest, she's the smartest, he's the funniest. Juliet's the theatre kid." Juliet knows she is more than that, but she is the only one who does. To prove herself, she'd have to change who she is. Juliet has to decide what means more: being accepted, or the theatre.
