At first the people feared the disease because it killed 90% of America's children. But then, they feared it because of what it did to the ones who lived. The ones like me. It turned us into freaks, as the adults like to say. The disease gave us special abilities. We were strong. The government feared us. As the government does when it fears things, it locked us away. They segregated us by colour, by danger, and sent us to live in camps. But I won't have that. Jia Thorin won't have that. I will do whatever it takes to stop this, including joining the Children's League, an organization that advocates for the kids of America, the ones who live. The ones like me. This book ended spectacularly, but I was still curious as to how Liam and Ruby (along with their friends) survived a "normal" world. Me and Zu are both 16 and yellows. We were sleeping in black Betty that night. Liam,Ruby, and Chubs were sleeping in seats. Me and Zu slept on the floor with a blanket covering it. After a while I drift off to sleep. I feel a shift in the blanket me and Zu were Sharing. I look up to see Zu jump out and into darkness. I follow her and shut the door quietly. As I take a step close I hear a leaf crackle."crap" I think. She turns around to look at me then at the river I. Front of her. I join her and sit on a log. I look at her, the moon light reflects of her face making her pale skin and freckles stick out. I tell her "we should get to black Betty before anybody-" she grabs on to the neck of my shirt and pulls it toward her. Our lips touch, I open my eyes to see her cheeks are cherry red and she is still holding on to my shirt, her grip hasn't loosen. One of her hands lets go of my shirt and grips on to mine hand, I then feel her fingers curl with mine. I then hear Ruby's voice laugh.
