My entry for the Marriott Hotels Travel Brilliantly July 2018 contest, the challenge to write a story about how the next big thing in AI could change the world for the better. The inspiration for this story comes to a large extent from technology that already exists today, with machine learning, artificial intelligence, on-to-go digital assistants and the ever-present social media networks that we let invade every part of our life. This story takes all of these things to the next level: planning unforgettable, surprise vacations that you will absolutely love. To me, this is a concept not too far-fetched.

Entry for Travel Brilliantly contest. A weekend stay at a new hotel does not go quite as planned.

The year is 2038. It's been twenty years since Alana Walker was an engineering student with big dreams, and ten years have passed since the start of Walker and Co, the engineering company Alana started with two of her college friends. She had dreamed of inventing something that could change the world ever since she was a little girl, and now her dream has come true. Walking into an airport, she sees her invention, the AI concierge called Oeconomus, being used by nearly everyone. She is rewarded by getting to see how her creation helps people all over the airport, and how Oeconomus makes a trip to the airport less stressful.

14 year old Antoinette, heir of the number one company in the world, "Ripple", found an abandoned "slave house". Wait, what?! No, it didn't house slaves! The house is the slave. Duh! Seriously, did you think this would be some story about the Civil War or something? No, the first one, when slaves were a problem...oh, they still are? Sorry. Well...folks, welcome to the year 2472.
