Virtual world series #1 In today's virtual world, where everything happens online, there are just many kinds of people on the internet as it is in real life. Rose, a blooming teenager who has met all these kinds of people, has given herself the label of an 'internet vigilante' and hunts multiple social media predators and bullies just for her own satisfaction. But one day, a guy who claims to have seen her at school messages her, although she doesn't remember seeing him. He's not flirty or creepy but at the same time, he comes off as a mysterious person whose motive is still unknown. Lots of drama occur all through just one social media app and Rose's friends too get involved. A plethora of fake account drama, blocking, stalking and anonymity occurs - most of them being Rose's plans itself. In between this, she still finds time to do her usual hobby of hunting predators. At the end of all this - is he who we all think he is? Is he just a random online friend, a predator who failed at his plans, or someone beyond all of this...? It's hard to say, honestly - everything happens online. *Based on a true story* 'May 2, 2021, nighttime, me sitting lazily on my phone. As usual, Instagram was my only hope during such a boring day. I was just watching reels, and most of them were either really funny, or really cringey, the latter which I proceeded to scroll past as soon as I saw them. I didn't really expect anything else from this app, actually. As I scrolled through the reels, more and more boredom started to enter my mind. Why can't some drama happen online? *Winner of the Wattpad Ambassadors Aim to Engage Contest 2021* This short story is my submission for the Wattpad Ambassadors "Aim to Engage 2021" contest. The goal was to write a story in 500 words or less using this prompt: New Year, the time of new beginnings, and when we leave the past behind. But what if instead of stepping into a new year, you kept entering the previous ones? Instead of moving forward, the years keep going backward. With that prompt in mind, I decided to come up with a situation where I wouldn't mind going back in time again. The first thing that came up was when I went back to Hawaii to take care of my papa when he had Hodgkin's lymphoma. I was only eleven, and had no idea what taking care of a cancer patient entailed. That summer ended up being the last time I got to be with Papa. I remember feeling guilty after he died, because I spent so much time worrying about him or stressing that I wasn't doing enough to help him. If I could go back and relive those moments again, I wouldn't even worry about all the technical things that had me losing sleep and just focus on being with my papa. Keeping track of vitals, making sure Papa got his meds at the right time, sanitizing everything, those things are important. But when I look back on those days, I don't wish I had spent more time reading monitors or cleaning. I wish I had spent more time sitting with Papa.
