From living in an abusive, alcohol ridden household with her younger brother Johnny, to running from socs and their mustangs in the streets, Cassie was no stranger to violence. She had grown up with the Curtis siblings (who unfortunately lost their parents just last year) and their small gang of friends. However, they do not know the extent of abuse that Cassie endures at home. She had always kept everyone around her at an arm's length including her own brother, not wanting to be a burden to anyone. The only person that Cassie Cade has ever confessed to, was her best friend Gideon. Cassie never wanted to become another mouth to feed, another body taking up a bed, or source of stress. She would much rather get hurt a hundred times over before ever seeing her younger brother or her friends get hurt. But there is only so much stress and pain a 17 year old girl can take before she breaks. Johnny Cade was the younger brother he never had, and would do anything to keep him safe. And then there was Cassie. Stubborn, hardheaded, yet breathtakingly beautiful Cassie. The two were always bickering, arguing, and fighting about god knows what. But Dallas cared for her far more than he was willing to admit. Birdie struggles to settle down in the new life that was sprung onto her against her will, but a certain Two-Bit Mathews catches feelings and makes her feel at home. (so i know absolutely nothing about 1880. or 1965. or texas, or oklahoma. so please forgive me if there's any inaccuracies i've spent more time RESEARCHING about those time periods than actually writing, so... yeah.)

Elias Ranger, a lieutenant and platoon leader, arrives back home from serving a tour in Vietnam. Home no longer feels that way it did when he left. He has to navigate civilian life again and learn how to live with his guilt and trauma. When things get tough Darry lends a helping hand.
