I wrote this poem for my first love. It was hot and toxic and passionate and raw.

Vampires, shape shifters, mermaids, far, dragons, nymphs, telepathy, magic, all stuff of fantasy right? Well actually yes, there all glamorized and stereotyped, but these legends come from somewhere. And where they come from is not some far of realm of imagination. They live right here, on earth, there could be one next to you right now. The Variant, the More than human, the oddities. Where not as rare as you think, we walk amount you, and live pretty normal lives. Well at least I think we do, but then again I've never been normal, I don't know what normal is. So here let me introduce you to my not so normal life, and the not so normal world of the Variant. The Almost humans.

A customer, by the name of Aomine, comes into the cafe where Kagami works. He can't explain why, but the man reminds him of the stray cat. He insists on getting to know Aomine and soon finds himself in a romance with Aomine. There's trouble in Kagami's paradise when Aomine has long, unexplained absences.

They were always with me. At home, painting our nails. At the powwow, fancy dancing and singing. Seemed like we were always dancing or practicing and they were the best competition for me. We always tried to do our best and love each other hard. No jealousy. Some fighting but we always made up. My best friend, my second cousin, her mom always brought us to every powwow. Her van pulled this huge but old camper and man, those were the best memories. We didn't have to wait in those long lines at the powwow's to get into a portable bathroom. Nah. We could sit on our cousins's throne whenever we needed it. My mom. She's old school Native. My dad... well, he tries his best. I think we all did. Things started to change, some. Slowly. I thought I was born to fancy dance. Winter came. And things changed..."

Alex never knew he might be one of these people until the dreams started and even stranger occurrences began happening in his waking life. What does it all mean and to what end will it lead.
