Yes, I know the headcanon I'm using is out there, but it popped into my head when Gaara started associating Sakura's face with Yashimaru's face and I noticed there were similarities which got my brain going, combining it with the fact that, while Rasa is definitely a bad parent, I really do think he cared. And yes, it is possible for twins to be born that far apart. It would likely mean that Karura slipped into a coma after delivering Gaara and she was kept alive until it was safe to deliver the second twin that they hadn't expected yet Rasa took advantage of the fact nobody, including certain council members who liked manipulating things towards their own personal gain could take advantage of her like they would his other three children.

Itachi likes teasing his younger brother about many things, some of which become forgotten. Disclaimer - I don't own Naruto. This was written for the prompt for day ten - distant. For some reason Sasuke being distant from the other kids during his academy days resulted in me writing a story about Itachi teasing Sasuke about liking Sakura and not acting on his feelings, only to ironically be the reason Sasuke pushed the feelings aside.
