In the brutalist concrete corners of the university library, two worlds collide: one that sees too much, and one that sees in shades of gray.
Marcelline Keilah Benitez lives in a world of "chromesthesia," where every laugh has a flavor and every song is a brushstroke of neon light. To the outside world, she is the BS Psychology department's "human sunshine"-loud, cheerful, and seemingly untouched by the quiet fractures of her broken home.
Isamu Hael Alvarico, a nonchalant BS Political Science major, exists in the "Slate." Born with Achromatopsia, his world is a silent film of textures and shadows. He doesn't need color to navigate his life; he values the stability of facts, the protection of his younger sister, and the peace of his monochrome sanctuary.
As they grow closer, the "Sunlight" and the "Slate" begin to bleed into one another. Marcelline's cheerfulness is put to the test as the tension with her mother worsens, revealing that her "loud" personality is often a shield against the silence of a house that feels empty. Meanwhile, Isamu's stoic shell begins to crack as he realizes that being "nonchalant" isn't the same as being okay.
