Sixteen-year-old Jureel "Jup" Amon has spent his life surviving in a fractured America rebuilt from war, surveillance, and power. In a world ruled by energy, bloodlines, rankings, and civic control, strength decides who gets protected and who gets left behind. Jup has never had the luxury of feeling chosen. He has only had his family, his stubbornness, and the quiet belief that something about the world has always felt wrong.
Then an impossible force awakens inside him.
It is not Ki, the body's strength. It is not Ether, the power the surface world claims to understand. It is something older, deeper, and far more dangerous: Essenz. With it comes Triōhnah, an ancient intelligence bound to his mind, and the first cracks in the reality Jup thought he knew. The rules governing humanity are not natural. The systems watching them are not honest. The monsters hiding in the dark are not accidents.
As Jup struggles to control a power that could save him or destroy him, his city begins to collapse around him. Gangs move like armies, corrupted beings hunt from the shadows, and government forces bury every truth they cannot control. Every fight pushes Jup closer to the source of his awakening, but every answer reveals a larger lie: Earth is only the surface of the prison, and the history humanity remembers is a carefully maintained illusion.
To protect his family, Jup must grow stronger in body, mind, and spirit while learning the difference between power and corruption. But Essenz does not simply make him stronger. It exposes what is broken. It devours what should not exist. And if Jup cannot master it before the world beneath the world takes notice, his awakening may become the signal that brings ancient enemies back to Earth.
Reality is not broken.
It was never real.
