Elizza
In the southern province of Kerala is set the tale of Elizza, a child born of two distant worlds - the daughter of a British sergeant and an Indian mother. Her elder sister, Clara, bears the fair likeness of their father, whilst Elizza carries the dusky beauty and gentle features of the mother she scarcely remembers, for she was taken from the child when Elizza was but four years of age.
Though her father holds affection for both daughters, Elizza grows beneath the quiet burden of difference. When her father's kin come to visit, they regard her with colder hearts and show favour unto her sister, for Elizza resembles them not in appearance.
Yet within the girl dwells a spirit both brave and tender. She is intelligent, kind of heart, loving, and deeply feeling, though at times easily persuaded by those around her. As she grows, she meets many people and seeks companionship among them, hoping to find a place where she may belong.
This story is told through many voices and lives that pass through her path, yet the heart of the tale remains the same - Elizza. And whether the happiness she longs for shall endure, or fade like the morning mist upon the hills, remaineth yet uncertain.
