Thinking back, my decision was based on the fact that I wanted to dedicate my life to something bigger than myself. I always considered myself a tough girl, a bit of a tomboy but nonetheless a go-getter with a restless soul. When I was born, I had been brought into this world through C-section, and faced many challenges throughout my childhood. Challenges that involved me struggling with a mild form of osteogenesis imperfecta, otherwise known as a brittle bone disorder. I was a bit reckless even still. I don't remember much of my childhood that didn't involve a broken bone or two. Throughout the span of my almost twenty-one years on this earth, I have broken at least fifteen bones, however those are just the ones I vividly remember. I am currently 4'9" in height, and as you may have realized, a women. Somehow, with all the odds stacked against me, I decided to finally start writing my own story. - I decided to create this series as a way to track my progress and as a mental review as to why I wanted to start this endlessly rewarding adventure.

When Hanna Collins volunteered at her school library she expected to organize books and help out around the library. She expected it to be a simple volunteer gig, nothing more. She didn't expect to befriend certain people. She didn't expect to have fun at the library. She didn't expect to find out that someone had been crushing on her for years. I threw my hand up in frustration. A tear slipped down my cheek. "I had my chance and I blew it," I said, staring down at my hands. Soon I felt a pair of arms envelop me in a warm embrace. "He hates me," I whimpered. At this point tears were steaming down my face.

Quinn, a 13-year-old girl from district 11, faces her second reaping, and is filled with nothing but relief when her name is not the one on that god-foresaken piece of paper. However, when she realizes that the girl tribute's brother has been called, she recalls the pain in her father's eyes when neither of her siblings came back. Quinn is wracked with guilt for not saving her family, so she is filled with a sudden determination to save this one. Note: This book takes place during the 82nd game and in it, Katniss was the sole winner of the 74th games and the 75th wasn't with the victors.

"Do you feel like that, sometimes? A diamond?" He actually laughed out loud that time. "A diamond? Absolutely not. I am one fat lump of coal. Charcoal. The kind that goes in the grill, right before you burn it. The kind that starts a fire that won't go out, and cooks anything that gets close enough. I am the f***ing fire." I backed up, mentally. Those were a whole bunch of loaded words. I wasn't sure if I should approach any of it. In that moment, Jake kicked his heel back into the oak desk. It made a loud thump. His face lit up in pain, and it took him a moment to control his facial expression. I held my breath. Violence was what I had been prepared for. He could do more, if he really wanted to. He kicked the desk one more time, seemingly out of frustration. "The f***ing fire," he repeated, short of breath with irritation and pain. I inched closer, praying that he wouldn't look at me. Jake grew still again, staring out the window. I stood against the wall, waiting for him to notice my presence. He didn't. "Jake," I said softly. "Jake, listen to me. It's over. Everything already happened. Come back to the present, okay? Focus on right now." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jacob Sethsday has a history that might lead you to believe that he is a bad guy. He is currently in juvie due to an unfortunate accident that he blames himself for. He is stubborn as they come & has a difficult time letting go. He knows he deserves everything that's coming to him. Crystal is a volunteer at the facility where Jake is staying. She's volunteered so long, she has her own parking spot. She's never met a boy she couldn't help, save one. The question is, will this boy allow her to help him, even if it means that he has to forgive himself?
