The ninth entry of the 2020-2021 Film Journal is also the second anime entry of the year, "Weathering with You". Here, I discuss my unusual relationship with director Makoto Shinkai's work, the resulting intrigue of this film's animation, and the surprisingly applicable ideas within the director's most recent work.
