This is the prologue followed by the first chapter (puzzle piece) of The Curse of Time - Book 1 - Bloodstone which I hope to publish soon. The Curse Of Time is a YA/middle grade fantasy set in Cambridge UK. Sixteen year old Amelina Scott's life is blighted by a curse. She receives an invitation to visit the magical Krystallos cottage, but the cottage is illusive. Against her mother's warnings she searches for the cottage close to her home. To begin with the search is in vain. It is on this forbidden river walkway that Amelina first encounters Ryder. He appears just at the right moment, rescuing her from a perilous encounter. Amelina can't believe her luck. He's constantly on her mind. She has never met anyone like him before. His mesmerising eyes draw her to him. But appearances can be deceptive. Is he what he seems? Is he to be trusted? Will the Krystallos cottage reveal itself, and help her cure the curse, or will its secrets be entombed forever?

Liminal lands- Legacy 1 and 2, final part Genre: short story/Young teen mystery In a city haunted by the past, Legacy Jackson is drawn back to her childhood after receiving a cryptic letter from her missing sister, Jamyra. Memories of their shared laughter and childhood secrets collide with the chilling reality of Jamyra's absence, leaving Legacy desperate for answers. As she searches through the remnants of their old neighborhood and the eerie halls of Lovelace Middle School, Legacy grapples with her fragmented memories. Each familiar sight stirs haunting echoes of what once was, and when she encounters a girl who eerily resembles her sister, Legacy feels a mix of hope and dread. With time slipping away, she must confront the ghosts of her past and unravel the mystery surrounding Jamyra's disappearance before she loses her sanity-or will she succumb to time like others before her? Author's Note This is only the second draft of the final part, parts 1 and 2 are good. I already have a long list of revisions, expansions, and corrections I plan to make in future drafts, but I wanted to release it before the Backrooms movie as a small tribute to liminal horror and the stories that inspired me. I'd also like to dedicate this draft to my students, whose enthusiasm for series like The Backrooms helped inspire me to finally finish and share it. Thanks for reading. - L.B

Tessa Quill arrives in Mercy Draw with no plan, little money, and a talent for turning other people's pain into clean sentences. At Low Water Station, guests scratch their names into enamel mugs and carry one apology to the canyon at sunrise. Sometimes the canyon answers. Sometimes it answers in the wrong voice. When Tessa drinks from a mug that should have stayed locked away, she is pulled into the old disappearance of Mae Boone, the lies surrounding Dr Caleb Rusk, and the town's carefully managed trade in regret. Low Water Station is a literary uncanny short story about grief, borrowed guilt, public apology, and what happens when truth arrives through the wrong mouth.

đŸŒ«ïž The Cemetery That Swallows Fog When a young man takes a shortcut through an abandoned cemetery, he doesn't expect to step into another world. A place where fog doesn't move with the wind... it waits. Where silence is heavier than sound. And where the dead animals at the gate are only the beginning of something far worse. Deep inside the cemetery lies a forbidden grave-older than memory itself. When it opens, it doesn't reveal death... but a passage. He wakes in a purple-lit city that should not exist. A place where fog walks between streets, markets sell bottled emotions, and cafĂ©s serve meals that feed something deeper than hunger. No one here is truly alive in the way he understands. And yet... they are aware of him. As he moves through this impossible world-through ancient shops, silent crowds, and forests filled with colossal creatures-he begins to realize a terrifying truth: This world is not new. It is what remains after everything else is forgotten. And the more he remembers... the more it notices him. But when he finally returns home, he doesn't come back alone. Something came back with him. And now, reality is starting to fog over. đŸŒ«A surreal dark fantasy story about memory, forgotten worlds, and the thin line between reality and something that was never meant to be remembered.

A dying town launches a rebranding campaign that no one seems to be running. The billboards appear overnight. The slogans don't explain themselves. A diner waitress says nobody puts them up, and nobody takes them down. A couple arrives expecting ironic tourism and finds something closer to a live experiment. BeauchĂȘne doesn't ask visitors to believe anything. It only asks them to stay. To notice. To participate. What begins as small-town decay becomes a slow, sideways unraveling... murals that feel instructional, civic programs that behave like dares, and a town that seems increasingly aware of the people passing through it. A surreal, slow-burn satire about American decline, anti-branding, and the strange comfort of entropy. Meaning doesn't collapse here. It rebrands. Entropy is a vibe. Decline tastes like caramel. Welcome to BeauchĂȘne. You're here now.

In a city where advertisements never stop screaming and silence is nothing more than a rumor, Calder hears something impossible - a whisper buried beneath the endless noise. Chasing that fragile thread of meaning leads him to a strange kid, a hand‑drawn map, and a place called the Dead Zone, where the world finally goes quiet. What follows is a surreal, darkly funny journey through a world drowning in static, where enlightenment is just out of reach and the search for quiet might be the loudest thing Calder has ever done. The Whisper Between the Noise is a short story about longing, misinterpretation, and the ridiculous ways we try to escape ourselves - even if it means sprinting headfirst into the dirt.

16-year-old Angela Hawkswell works and lives as an acrobat in one of the most successful attractions in Sunspot, Ohio -- Ms. Maisy's Marvelous Wonders. Her boss, Ms. Maisy, is more than a boss, but also a kind woman that Angela looked up to as a mother. One day, when Ms. Maisy didn't come to work, Angela visited her home only to find her dead, along with a book of strange writings and drawings of creatures. Now, with the help of her little-more-than-best-friend, Wendy, Angela is determined to figure out why Ms. Maisy died before the circus is shut down and they are separated from it forever. -- This is a work in progress result of a Call of Cthulhu tabletop roleplay that I play by myself (I'm Keeper and the player). I use various tools and tables to randomize events, clues, characters, etc. Do not expect this to be a coherent story. There will be plot holes and threads that are never touched on again. There will be inconsistencies. This isn't supposed to be the next And Then There Were None or The Dunwich Horror -- it's all just good fun!

No one notices when it starts. That's the point. This isn't a story about monsters, ghosts, or violence. It's about attention - and what happens when it becomes unnecessary. Each chapter changes something small. Not in the world. In you. There is no twist. There is no explanation. And nothing here needs to be watched to continue. You don't have to keep reading. But most people do.
