I am writing this story for the Wattpad novella contest. When blood touches snow, something ancient wakes. On a night swallowed by silence, after a terrible act stains the frozen earth, a forgotten creature rises from the forest - starving, furious, and no longer bound by sleep. The villagers disappear. The woods begin to whisper. And outside her window, something watches. When she wakes to a nightmare made real - a horrifying offering left in her bedroom - she realizes the darkness is no longer outside. It wants her. But when the monster comes to kill her, something unexpected happens. He cannot. Instead, he offers a contract. Until his unfinished work is complete, she will live. Bound to a creature feared in legends, she is pulled into a secret older than the forest itself - a purpose so powerful he made a pact with a human to achieve it. As winter deepens, enemies rise, and the line between hunter and protector begins to blur. He is a curse. She is his weakness. While doing research on the Wendigo a storm hits and his house gets struck by lightning, setting his house on fire, he makes a run for his window and goes to jump out when his leg gets caught on some wires. Lei died instantly when his head slammed into the window, breaking the window and jamming a 6-inch shard of glass through his eye and into his brain. Now in a new world as a Wendigo, will Lei rise to the top of the food-chain, or will he be killed by the dangers that are around every turn. In this world its kill or be killed, showing mercy to the enemy is being cruel to yourself, the amount of people you can count on could be counted on one hand.
