"As long as you are happy, does it really matter who you love?" Lyric Jo Foster is happy with her life. She's happy without a boyfriend. She loves school. If she ever has a problem, she always has someone she can go to. Her mother and her are close and, despite her father leaving the family when Lyric was young, her mother does a wonderful job raising her and her two younger siblings. Arabic for "Hurry Up, Love," Yalla Habibi is all about a personal exploration of Arab American identity. This condensed, illustrated chapbook of poems is written in 3arabeezi, or Arabish-- mostly English with some Arabic words (and a fun glossary is included to help out!) (( Did she say fun glossary?! Yes! It has jokes.)) These poems comment on growing up with family history that can often be at odds with growing up American, as well as figuring out who you can be when belonging to multiple cultures. And there's art to go along with it all!
