In this misogynistic society when rapes happen the blame is often put on the victim. The nauseating explanations given by the society are that the woman must have worn short clothes, must have travelled alone at night or must have looked easy. The society believes that women themselves are the reason why they get raped. The mentality of the rapist which is the sole reason why such heinous crimes happen is often overlooked. This poetry highlights the above mentioned isuue.

"A woman's place is in the struggle" Womanism is essentially feminism for women of color, but better. We know they claim "intersectional feminism", which supposedly includes us woc, but we want something more. Womanism focuses on issues inside of community as colors, and how that intersects with gender issues. The movement was created by black women. High school only meant one thing for Kristina Washington: Ignorance, ignorance, and more ignorance. When she's accepted into a school where the ratio of white to colored is 3:1, she already knows what to expect. Comments about her hair, about her lips, and about her speech. But what she wasn't expecting to learn that hate comes in many shapes and forms. She starts to see that there's more to oppression than just the basic racism they taught in middle school. It's because of this Kristina becomes more woke and unfortunately more hated. Author's Note: This book would highlight the many social/racial issues happening in America, as well as the black community. If you are not comfortable with the topic of these issues, and/or the truth in general, DO NOT read this book.
