ONC 2026 | Brynn hates snow. Which is funny, really, a cosmic joke she'd laugh at if her throat weren't so frozen she could barely form words. Every morning as the sun rises, she wakes up in a fucking-freezing forest, snowflakes landing on her cheeks and nose, and her heart skips a beat because she's back there again, on that road, and she doesn't know why. She can't remember who she was; she can't recall the faces of people in her life, neither their voices, nor their names. All she knows is that there's a path ahead of her, down along the snowy slope that stretches for miles, and no way back. So Brynn goes on. Step after step into the treacherous whiteness, until the sun begins to set behind her and the white path is hit by the worst snowfall ever. And there, alone and cold, Brynn dies. Again. And again. And again. Until one day, something... changes. The always-so-straight road forks in two, and, for the first time in an endless list of days, Brynn feels like she has a choice. She can go right, and follow the same snowy path that will lead to her being buried in snow and, well, die... Or she can go left, and walk down the green path she has never seen before. Bee's life is sort of stable: she has a flat, a bipolar diagnosis she's getting a handle on. Well, as much as possible, when her reckless and unruly personality shines through. Theo - her childhood neighbour, moral compass, and lifelong critic - has moved back into the apartment across the courtyard. Now he's in her bar. In her kitchen. In her friend group. And, judging by the way he pointed at the window last night, extremely aware of which bedroom is hers. They've spent the last decade living separate lives on purpose. Different cities, different people, one annual birthday party where they confirm they're still wildly incompatible and leave again. But Theo isn't leaving this time. And apparently, neither is the possibility of whatever they've spent ten years avoiding. Prompt: You will meet many people in your life. English major, Callie Rose has lived with her friends off campus since sophomore year. When one of their roommates leaves them hanging, they find another to take his place. Hayes Kane checks all the boxes on paper to be a perfect roommate, but there's something odd about him.
