THE WRONG SIDE OF LOVE 💗
By Kendra K. Jackson
Destiny Carter has always been the good girl-the honor student, varsity cheerleader, and only daughter who never gives her mother a reason not to trust her. But as she begins her senior year at Sweetwater High School, the divorce of her parents leaves Destiny questioning everything she once believed about love, family, and forever.
Marcel Cross comes from an entirely different world. Raised by strict but loving grandparents after being abandoned by an absent father and a young mother who never stopped partying, Marcel learned early not to depend on anyone. When he could no longer accept his grandparents' rules, he allowed the streets to become his home. Now, with tattoos covering his body, trouble following his name, and a reputation that keeps most people at a distance, basketball is the only thing standing between Marcel and a future he may not live long enough to reach.
The only person Marcel still feels responsible for is his thirteen-year-old brother, Channing, who remains with their grandparents and looks up to Marcel more than Marcel believes he deserves.
When Marcel and Destiny casually cross paths during their first day of senior year, neither expects the encounter to mean anything. But shared glances during basketball and cheer practice quickly turn into an attraction they can no longer ignore.
After Marcel leads the Sweetwater Sharks to victory in a major game, he and Destiny finally have their first real conversation. Determined to experience something outside the perfect life everyone expects her to live, Destiny tells her mother she is spending the night with her best friend, Brielle Miles.
It is the first serious lie Destiny has ever told.
It is also the first step into Marcel's world.
Destiny sees more in Marcel than his reputation, his anger, or the dangerous company he keeps.
