After being ghosted by the person she loved, Y/N thinks the silence is the worst part. Then, at 3:17 a.m., her phone lights up. She's been added to a group chat called THE MOOR. Two users are already typing-offering advice that feels too intense, too intimate, and far too old to belong to the present. They call themselves HEATH and CATHY. As their messages blur the line between obsession and love, Y/N must decide whether to listen to the voices that linger... or choose a future that refuses to repeat the past. A modern, gothic reimagining of Wuthering Heights, where love haunts, silence speaks, and not all ghosts stay in the ground.

Grand-Prize Winner of the Wuthering Heights Reimagined Contest πŸ† A Southern gothic reimagining of Wuthering Heights. Content note: One weirdly erotic scene (not explicit) + some light cussin'. Cathy Earnshaw is engaged to a decent and thoroughly respectable man. The party at his family's South Carolina estate is everything she's dreamed of - champagne glasses glinting under string lights, Spanish moss drifting in the sultry breeze - until Heathcliff shows up. Four years he's been gone. They used to run wild in the woods behind her family home, drawing blood and making promises no one else would understand. Now he's returned, hardened and hollow. When he ruptures the smooth surface of her genteel world, Edgar and his friends don't know how to handle him. But Cathy does.

In honor of Emerald Fennel's movie version, based on Emily BrontΓ©'s classic romance novel, "Wuthering Heights," Wattpad has decided to host, a writing contest. The movie is set to be released on February 14th, 2026. This short story of mine was originally composed as an entry in Wattpad's short story writing contest. However... I, sadly, did not make the deadline on time. So... I decided to go ahead and post this as a regular short fan-fiction story! In the small town of Winthrop, England, the Bloomsdale and Cliffton families have been close friends for generations. The year of 1975, fosters the childhoods of pre-teenagers George Bloomsdale, Alyse Cliffton... and an adopted brother: Keith Cliffton. As years pass, love, and pain, begin to spark. Fast forward to 28 years later, we meet the new Bloomsdale family. Living in 2003, Atlanta Georgia, United States, married couple Alyse, and George Bloomsdale, are raising the next generation of Bloomsdale children. However, though a loving family, Alyse and George's peaceful way of life is abruptly shattered by a face from the past; a face that everyone swore they would never see again. Upon the stranger's reappearance, questions arise, and familial relationships are tested. Will trust and faith they've always nurtured between one another, be strong enough to survive painful revelations from a long, dark past? Is forgiveness even possible? Now... may GOD BLESS all of you. Enjoy! 😊 DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN EMILY BRONTΓ‰'S ORIGINAL STORY, EXISTING CHARACTERS, PLACES, OR EVEN THE COVER. THE COVER IS CURTESY OF WATTPAD'S OFFICIAL CONTEST PAGE. I ONLY OWN THE ELEMENTS OF CREATED ADDITIONAL CHARACTERS, INSERTED SETTINGS, AND TIME PERIODS.

In a dying world split between the grimy, neon-soaked Sprawl and the pristine, floating towers of the Aerium, two souls are forged in the fire of survival. "The Howling Sprawl" is a cyberpunk re-imagining of Emily BrontΓ«'s Wuthering Heights. It follows the journey of Cathy and Heath, from childhood scavengers bound by a primal connection to bitter enemies separated by the ultimate class divide. When Heath returns as a cybernetically-enhanced revolutionary to tear down the sky, Cathy must decide if she belongs to the world that refined her or the man who remembers her soul. It is a tale of obsession, atmospheric ruin, and a literal grounding of heaven and earth.

ㄏYorkshire saw them die. China will see them live.乁 Swept away by an ancient force during their final breath at Gimmerton, Heathcliff and Catherine awaken in the heart of the 18th-century Forbidden City. In this new world, they are no longer outcasts: he is a powerful Mandarin, and she is the Emperor's Favorite. But silk is a cage, and jade is a mask. Separated by millennial rituals and a language that refuses to utter their true names, they must master the art of political guile to find one another. Beneath the red lacquer ceilings, their destructive passion still burns, more dangerous than ever. Will the Empire be the sanctuary the moors denied them, or a prison even more cruel? @ruby_rosie

A dark epic fantasy retelling of Wuthering Heights with elemental magic, rival clans, and a love that should never have existed. 🌩️ SUMMARY In the war‑torn mountain realm of Aerthwyn, two rival clans have fought for generations over the ancient prophecy that promises a chosen heir will command the elemental forces and reshape the world. When a rebellious girl with a hidden past crosses paths with a chaotic, sunshine‑bright scholar on a forest road, their collision sparks a chain of events that neither destiny nor blood feuds can contain. Forced into an uneasy alliance after nearly killing each other, they embark on an epic quest across forests, frozen peaks, and forgotten ruins. But each carries a secret that could destroy the other: -He is the lost prince foretold in the prophecy. -She is the assassin sent to kill him. As they travel together-stranded, bickering, saving each other's lives, and slowly unraveling the truth-they must decide whether to obey the roles carved for them by their clans... or burn the prophecy to ash. Enemies to lovers. Grumpy/sunshine. Hero x Villain. Forbidden love. A dark secret that changes everything. And a love as wild and destructive as a storm.

Psychiatrist Dr. Cornelia Chalmers counsels fictional characters from literature in an attempt to give them more balanced lives and happy endings. She generally has good success with her subjects but the Earnshaw/Linton family - Heathcliff in particular - overwhelm her and lead her to have a richer life of her own; which, after all, is the point of literature.

Competition Entry: Wattpad - Wuthering Heights Retelling In anticipation of the upcoming Warner Bros. Pictures film starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, this story brings a fresh twist to BrontΓ«'s iconic tale of consuming love and its cost across generations. In a hollow older than naming, where fever trees twist toward lovers and mist takes the shape of longing, the women of Nomathemba's line have kept what others let go. At seventeen, she meets Andile between the trees-storm-dark and inevitable-and their love burns so fiercely it cracks the sky. But he leaves for London, for bridges, for a life across the ocean she cannot follow. "Haunt me," he whispers. "If I forget- remind me." So she weaves their love into mist and keeps it. For sixty years. The keeping costs her everything: her body dissolving by degrees, a hollow marriage to a man who collects broken things, three daughters poisoned against her by whispered lies. Only Thandi sees the truth - the mother who braided their hair, sang them through fevers, loved them with everything the keeping left her. But the hollow collects its debts. And some loves, once kept, can never be released - only transformed into something that reaches forever, fingers almost touching, never quite meeting. A South African reimagining of Wuthering Heights that asks: What does it cost to hold on? And what remains when we finally let go?

When your ex ghosts you, you don't expect actual ghosts to text back. Y/N is just looking for closure-maybe a sign, maybe a rebound-when a mysterious group chat appears on their phone: "The Moor." Two users are already typing. HEATH: burn it all down. CATHY: or marry him. same thing, really. They're the present-day ghosts of Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw, eternally bound to the moors-and now inexplicably summoned through bad Wi-Fi and worse romantic decisions. Their advice is unhinged, poetic, and brutally honest, echoing a love that once destroyed them both. As Y/N listens, the ghosts begin reliving their own story: childhood friendship turned obsession, love warped by pride, and a choice Catherine made that sealed their fate. But something is different this time. Through Y/N's questions-about self-worth, timing, and choosing love without losing yourself-Catherine sees the truth she missed in life. The moors tremble. The chat glitches. And the past cracks open just enough for an alternate ending. In this reimagining, Catherine chooses Heathcliff-not as possession, not as escape, but as partnership. They leave Wuthering Heights together, breaking the cycle of cruelty before it can harden. The ghosts fade, finally at peace, leaving Y/N with the last message: CATHY: choose love that lets you breathe. HEATH: and if it hurts like hell, make sure it's worth it. The chat deletes itself. The ex texts back. And the moor falls silent-at last.
