It always bothered me that they killed that medical examiner just because he was in the way. So I decided to write a short story (that seems to be turning into a novella) about how Rip ran into someone he didn't expect, and John Dutton finds more than what he was looking for. Elizabeth has always wanted to follow the foot steps of her parents who first meet at the corrals and her grandmother who was the head wrangler for years, but life has pushed Elizabeth down a different path. She started college at Montana State University which is in Billings just a hour if not more drive to Yellowstone. What do get when you through in a family friend Liz, an enemy you never did anything to, and a wrangler that makes you nervous and has you liking him from the get go?

What would happen if there was a Dutton who had a calming effect on the rest of the family? What if the youngest Dutton was a smart, sweet, stubborn girl who refused to let the darkness in and would dig her heels in to get her family through it unscathed? What if a certain burly cowboy with a heart of gold was the only thing she's been missing? This is a first attempt at fanfiction, this story idea just won't get out of my head so I decided to give it a try. He's walking frantically towards who knows what. She decides to follow him. That's her first mistake. This is a story about a boy who has a life long task of saving the world with the power to turn back time and a curious girl who never turns down a chance to escape the real world. At first, the boy refuses to let the girl help him, but she is persistent enough to make him let her in. The boy continues his journey to try and save the world while the girl doesn't know what she's getting into. Will she make it out alive? Will she make a new friend? Nobody knows. There's a new kid in town...

This short story describes the endeavors of a young girl trying to survive through a zombie plague unleashed by the explosion of the Yellowstone super volcano.
