#4 in tas #1 in Abeokuta Dedicated to all Africans who are depressed and suffer PTSD. How exactly do you explain to an African parent that you need help? Do Africans even care about the state of their mental health? How do I tell others how I feel or about my nightmares without them thinking I'm mentally unstable? Everywhere, "seek help." How exactly? All these questions bother me so much that they give me problems. Even if he agrees that I need help, everyone would see me as a psychiatric patient, as the mentally unstable girl. "I keep blaming myself for all that has happened. I mean, how could I not have seen it coming? She was practically my best friend and close to me. If only I had opened my eyes wide enough and looked closer, I would have known and probably done something. We had a fight, we didn't settle it. Before I knew it, she was gone. It upsets me more. This has been haunting me for over a year. Can I ever be normal?" #39 in stereotype #62 in insomnia #82 in singleparent #568 in nightmares #72 in African #2 in tcs #16 in secondaryschool #111 in Nigerian #28 in Yoruba #7 in middleclass On 19 September, 2020

Getting into trouble was something Kimbo always seemed to be doing no matter how much he tried otherwise. his Mama just took it that he was acting up but he really wasn't, trouble just seemed to be waiting on every corner to surprise him. So when Mama's usually impeccable car drives into the school compound at five freaking thirty looking like it just battled it's way out of riot specifically aimed at denting and charring the cars formerly smooth and silver body, what's the chance of something more surprising happening? well if learning you are part of some totally out of this realm stuff, I mean celestials who you thought were myths kinda stuff, isn't more surprising to you then at least learning your history doesn't add up anymore to what you are being told is true has to hold a little sway, right? if that's not enough for you well... well... I honestly don't know but I do know that tragedies do speak volumes, so tell me what you'd do if the only person who could give you the answers you need dies just because you couldn't just delay her for one freaking minute. there's at least one lesson to be learnt though, never ever Ever EVER get caught in the middle of a fight between the Orishas.
