I WANT LOVE My name is Hope. I'm eighteen years old, a nursing student, and a middle child who has spent most of her life feeling like she was somewhere between being wanted and being forgotten. I've always wanted love. Not the kind people post about. Not the kind that comes with pretty words and promises. I wanted to feel chosen. Seen. Important. I wanted someone to notice when I was hurting without making me explain why. For years, I thought leaving Olowo Community would finally give me the new beginning I desperately wanted. But somehow, even university couldn't take me far enough. Every day, I leave home for my clinical posting and return to the same place I've spent thirteen years trying to escape. Then there's the hospital. And there's him. A mysterious doctor I keep running into during my clinical posting. An adult. Someone who seems to notice things about me that nobody else does. For the first time, Hope begins to wonder... Did I finally find the attention I've always craved? Did I finally find the adult presence I've spent my life wishing for? Or is there something about being noticed that can make you forget to ask why someone is paying attention to you? This is not just a story about wanting love. It's about a girl trying to understand what love, attention, family, loneliness, and being truly seen actually mean. This is Hope's story. And maybe, somewhere between these pages, you'll find a little piece of yours too. I WANT LOVE.

My life has been an intense journey from a little girl who was beaten down and abused into believing that she was worthless, to a woman at 43 years of age who is still desperately searching for who she truly is. I found her though. I did. And she writes like me, from inside of me. She is me. This girl that I've been in love with since time first existed, is indeed me. The way that she walks. With her hands... and how she talks? The hearts that she's captured, the souls that she has inspired. I'm now trying to be her. I've never felt that I was good enough to actually be myself!!! I always knew how pure and clear and free I was inside. But people told me otherwise, in a very cruel way. No one ever spared my feelings or thought to speak to me with kindness or love. My parents were very serious and strict people. They believed that there was only 1 way to act and inside I knew that I did NOT fit in the parameters of the behavior expected of me. And every single time I made my Step Daddy sigh or frown it felt like I knife in my heart. I was a let down. Always too loud. Always moving too much. Always too fat and always too ugly. Always too much. Unless I sat quietly. But I've always been a firecracker and all of that containment really made me want to blow off! All of what was inside of me, swirling and dividing in me. Burying the side of me that I loved the most! I was a bastard and a blasphemy. Harsh words for a girl of 3. They said them when they baptized me.

A Story Told in Fragments Life isn't a neatly bound novel with chapters that flow in perfect order. It's a collection of moments-some vivid, some fleeting, some that never quite make sense until much later. This is not a traditional book. These are stories, thoughts, and reflections-each standing alone, yet somehow connected. Read them in any order. Let them sink in. And maybe, by the last page, the bigger picture will reveal itself.

This is one of the many poems I'll be posting. This poem captures the deep loneliness that comes when the people we rely on are unavailable in our lowest moments. It explores the contrast between always being there for others and feeling abandoned when we need the same support. Beneath the ache, it also carries a quiet resilience-a reminder that even in isolation, we keep holding on, waiting for the storm to pass and for connection to return.

This is a simple poetry book I decided to take a chance on. It's going to include a lot of topics. I wanted to try something new, so this is what I will be doing. Everything I write about will be from personal experiences. Please don't take anything to heart. It's not intended to be offensive. Thank you for reading. <3 WARNING: Suicide will be discussed in this book. Read at your own risk.
