Inspired by Chinese Drama Truth or Dare or 花好月又圆 / The flowers are blooming and the moon is full Katara, daughter of the Water Tribe, is put into an arranged marriage with Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation. Neither said No, but neither were exactly happy. Zuko didn't particularly care, and Katara understood her duty, but it didn't stop her from yearning after the masked hero who saved her life.

When Aang was shot down and claimed to be dead... Another had fallen and was also claimed dead, accept he was really dead. Prince zuko. When the gaang finds out the tragic death of the prince of the fire nations murder they almost seem to feel it's unreal, the boy that have hunted them will never bother them again... They all feel different about it, guilt, confused, even the thought of zuko not deserving it, but also anger yet relief... That's until one of them runs into the blue spirit and finds out a dark secret that only one other knows of. "Zuko?"

Zutara happens!!! Here is my version of what the rest of the Avatar the Last Airbender would look like if Zutara actually happened. I start from the Agni Kai between Azula and Zuko and we just go from there. I just want to add, I made the effects of Zuko's lightning wound a lot worse than they were portrayed in the show, since I feel like, even though he did get healed by Katara, his reactions and recovery time were very unrealistic (that's probably just me though). I also came up with some new concepts that have to do with Chi and the Spirit World, so hopefully they work with the story and the rest of the Avatar Universe. Enjoy!! :D Also I just saw this picture online and I thought it would make a cool cover since it is basically what my story is about. Avatar Aang saves the world but ruins himself in the process. or Katara engages "He who saved the world" but loses herself in the process. - Aged up. when the battle against Ozai takes place Aang is 18, Katara is 20, Zuko is 22.

It has been 10 years since the end of The Hundred Year War, ten years since Aang left her. Katara now finds herself in an unlikely pair with a melancholy Fire Lord while navigating life in Republic City. Excerpt: "Zuko stop!" she begged. He did not, he continued to nudge and press for an answer. Katara began to feel like the floor was slipping from under her. The room was no longer still and she was growing increasingly dizzy. She grabbed on to a column to steady herself. Zuko rushed to her side, bracing her against his warm body. Their eyes met briefly and Zuko found the answer he had been searching for.

Katara: two years of isolation chasing after her brother who vanished into the Earth Kingdom looking for work. Zuko: six years of isolation on an iron ship slowly losing hope that his horizon might ever change. After coming to realize his father never meant for him to return home Zuko throws his fate in with Katara's side, but halting one hundred years of momentum isn't that easy. Crossposted to AO3.

It is based on calculations and things that would logically happen. This story will explore ships and events, though none of this is canon. The only one capable of healing him is Katara, whose waterbending possesses unique restorative properties. Reluctantly, she agrees to help, but as she tends to his wounds, she begins to see beyond the Fire Nation prince she once despised. She witnesses his pain, his regret, and his genuine desire for redemption. As Katara's healing touch mends his physical wounds, their interactions become more intimate, and they begin to confront their past traumas. Zuko opens up about his abusive father, his banishment, and the constant pressure to regain his honor. Katara, in turn, shares her grief over her mother's death and her struggle to trust anyone from the Fire Nation. Through these vulnerable moments, they forge a connection that transcends their cultural differences and past animosities. However, their growing feelings are complicated by the expectations of their respective nations. Some see their relationship as a betrayal, while others view it as a symbol of hope for a lasting peace. Katara and Zuko must navigate these external pressures while also confronting their own internal conflicts, ultimately deciding whether their love is worth fighting for.
