@IrishMedicine honestly -- I started working on this book in grade 12 (so four years ago? Considering I'm in my last year of university in Canada -- oh ps. we both live in Canada) 
            
            It started with the prophecy and then just ballooned out from there. Originally it was a completely different story -- but then I  figured out exactly where this first book to go (planning on it being a trilogy). Just in October actually (of 2015) I figured out how I wanted to warp / play with the characters -- in the draft I had written from grade 12 -- it was 140 pages long on a word doc and the characters had different names (names are so hard for me), different species of otherworldly creatures (until I became obsessed with the fae), etc. 
            
            It's been a mission and a half but I'm finally happy with it
