Writing and reading have always been a big part of my life... as a child it served to entertain, educate, and inspire a lonely kid. As a young adult I began to discover the possibilities of life. Adulthood brought the need to share ideas, analyze problems and employ solutions, and communicate with diverse cultures and professions.
For the biggest part of my life the writing I have published has been firmly grounded in the practical, pragmatic, and problem solving arena. I was a marketing consultant most of my life and writing skills enabled me to perform at a high level
Now that I have reached the age when wisdom should be firmly nested in my brain... I find that I am still curious about the 'meaning of life' and wondering if I will ever arrive at a place where I feel intellectually comfortable. I think not.
Writing has brought me personal income, a certain level of awareness, and has helped me through many personal challenges and tragedies. It is in the tragedies of life, the most difficult periods when you feel there are no answers for the realities which face you, that writing serves as a nurse, a therapist, a healer.
It was in such a time that I turned to writing small essays and short stories and, in doing so, discovered a catharsis, a lifting of the black clouds that sometimes settle up on our souls ... and a new pleasure in the mere act of putting words on paper. Instead of writing measured business strategies and techniques that served to enrich the bottom line of corporate executives, I now get the greatest pleasure by writing stories which enrich the emotional lives of everyday people.
Perhaps there is no greater purpose in life than to help others laugh, overcome, adjust, and to just feel the satisfaction of living. Indeed, it truly is, an act of love!
