WishingTree

@18gooda haha I love that quote

WishingTree

@18gooda I felt bad about Thim and having Liem go was a bit... But the thing that upset me the most was Faithful. Is it bad that I'm more upset over the death of the cat rather than Alanna's brother and friend.

On a lighter note, I see that you have a Neal quote on your profile-thing :D

Yeah but then again Thom was almost never there. And he was always kind of bitter and rude. I love him mostly because I feel bad for him. He's a pitiful character. An archetype of the ambitious character too, bringing Roger back to life the way he did, and only because Delia goaded him a little. At least Faithful was a lot more present and a little bit nicer. And then there would be those moments when Alanna was feeling down and he let her cuddle him while Thom would have been like "Go cuddle with that stupid boyfriend of yours that I hate"

Sorry that was a kind of long rant. Long story short, I think the readers were almost supposed to not care about Thom. If we were, Pierce would have written him as more human. I think there's a point to be made in the fact that only Alanna mourns for him. Even in the beginning of the book it said that Thom only loved two people, himself and Alanna. So she was the only person who could love him back.

            Gosh, that's depressing.
