My first message is a huge huge shout out to ESTL's Writer's Club. You are so very talented with words, and I know you will continue to grow and develop your skills. We have spent a lot of Friday afternoons working on different pieces and we're in the process of creating the first Writer's Club group poem which I am very excited to see. You have been patient with the writing process and kept your shine going. I wish I could have put more time in to get some of our big ideas off the ground. We have plans for a newsletter, publishing pieces, and hosting a poetry event in the school. However, with impeding factors like the teacher's strike, school-wide testing, and general timing we have not been able to bring some of these ideas to fruition. I post this message to encourage you talented, young students of Writer's Club to continue to do great things. The school year is winding down and I hope we do not lose this momentum going into next year. I'd like to see writer's club continued into future years and be fully led by students. As adults, we need to get it together. I hope until then students can shine through as leaders and make things happen regardless of us adults. I have recently graduated with a master's degree and landed a job which I know will limit my time working in schools for the time being. I had hoped to show up on a regular basis, but school, life, and work interupted that; and I know it will contnue to do so. I would like to continue to encourage you all and I will show up whenever I can (hopefully even tomorrow before my Chicago trip - fingers crossed). As far a I know, I'll be in the school randomly, so don't forget to say hi when you see me (I'm in the library right now by the way). Peace and all the pancakes! Keep writing!
