FYI: Please, if you are not mature enough to handle offensive material, do not attack me or any other author that may write those types of stories. Stories are written to entertain readers and to give the audience different types of perspectives. I will admit, I get very uncomfortable reading certain "scenes" because of emotion connections, lack of knowledge on the topic, or even because the characters' opinions clash with my way of thinking, but I read it anyway and keep my mouth shut because I will not cower away from something that is 1)Made up and 2)Because I need to be mature and strong enough to handle it. A lot of writers will use racism in their stories because that is what makes the story thrilling and evokes a reaction from the readers. A lot of writers use sexual, mental, and physical abuse because we as women are more sensitive to the issue. And a writer may use homophobia to make the story real. I want to write realistic-fictional stories, so I will use real world issues. I think it is pretty logical. It doesn't mean I am (or any other author is) prejudiced, a promoter of domestic violence, or homophobic. I am writing what the character does, feels, and thinks. I don't write about what I would do, I put myself in the character's shoes. I honestly couldn't tell you how my story is going to end because my characters are unpredictable. My characters are alive in text. They run the show, not me.
