"Push, Lin, Push!" She yelled.
It was dark and humid. I hated humidity, but I have to push.
"10 more Lin! Keep up!"
Her yells kept getting increasingly louder, my ears swarming with sound. The rain slapping near my head, the wind rushing through the leaves, and Minty yelling.
I finished. 200 pushups in under two minutes. Years had been taken off of my life for that.
"Nice work Lin!" She raised her hand for a high-five. Her smug face looking prideful.
"Yeah, t-thanks." I couldn't breathe. The humidity and rain was different than what i'm used to. I stood and leaned against a granite column, my head resting against it. I glared up at the storm above us, what a beautiful day..
"Alright, couple more minutes and we'll be done. Grab the bo staff and we can get started." She walked over to the stony circle, slight moss covering it, its slick.
I grabbed the bo staff, wooden, of course. It was taller than I, but never as tough.
I walked over to the circle, Minty standing across from me. My unraveled hair was soaked and sweaty. Minty had rain dripping down her sharp features. She had no weapon, she helped me train unaided.
"Ready?" She asked, placing her long leg a step forward, her arms loosely guarding her vitals.
"Yup." I glared at her, she smirked back with a slight nod.
The rain thrashed on the ground, horizontal drops of rain were thrown in puddles, while the rainy continued to get harder, and colder.
I felt a gale of moist wind blow past my arm and face, luckily, it didn't reach me. I shoved my bo-staff near her vitals, while trying to avoid quick attacks of her own. Her jabs were quick and merciless, while mine were heavy and abrupt.
I took three small steps back, making space for me to attack, she had been slowly gaining on me. Minty relaxed into a cooler form, her hands by her side and her weight, shifted to one leg. She brought her leg far back behind her, into a lunge.
I pressed forward, despite the concerning stand she took. I rushed her, bring my staff behind my head for a straight down slice. The rain bounced off my staff and onto the ground like it had done many times before.
Minty threw her leg up fast, faster than I could cut the air, and knocked the staff from out of my grip. Her leg stood tall, much taller than I had imagined she could reach.
My bo-staff collided with the stone bricks. My face relaxed into one of exhaustion and devastation. My breath fogged in the air, in quick bursts. My heart was beating, fast. Minty also relaxed, bring her leg down from what seemed like the clouds, down to land.
The kick had no effect on her wellbeing, unlike me. The gush of rain made my hair soaked, my ponytail came out and my hair was stuck to my neck with water and sweat. I reached down to pick up the bo-staff, I wasn't deserving of this tool or weapon, or teacher.
I slowly walked over to the weapon rack.
"Lin, hey, you look tired. Let's go inside, I don't wanna get sick out here anyway."
"Yeah, sure." I quickly ran inside, holding the huge door for Minty. I took a step forward, the doors slamming behind me, causing me to jump.
"You seem kinda nervous on-edge today, you alright?" She spoke with soft words of genuine concern.
"Yeah, i'm good I guess." I look to the floor defeated, water dripping from my finger tips, leaving a trail of small puddles.
"Your brother should be back today, right?"~
