Forget It

Chapter Two

Caroline and Zack had went off campus for lunch. They both were craving salty french fries. 

"Zackkk!" Caroline yells, while Zack is driving

Zack slams on the breaks "Jesus Christ Caroline! What is the problem?" 

"Mickey D's is over there, that's all." Caroline says, picking at her nails

Zack shakes his head "Caroline you cant do that while I'm driving. Im sorry for hollering at you, you just scared me, I thought something was wrong."

Caroline grabs Zacks free hand and holds it "I'm sorry for yelling while you're driving."

Zack shakes his head. "After we get food, we're going back. And I'm gonna nap." 

"Okay."

"Well what're you going to do?"

"Maybe nap or play my guitar. Not really sure yet."

"You're not gonna ask if you can nap with me?" 

Caroline laughs, "Get ahold of yourself Zack." 

"I take that as a no." Zack fake pouts and pulls into McDonalds

Caroline gets out of Zacks car "Come on slowpoke." 

Zack rolls his eyes and holds the door for Caroline

"Hi welcome to McDonalds what can I get for you today?" The cashier asks 

"Hi! Can I get a happy meal please?" Caroline asks

The cashier laughs "Yes ma'am. yogurt or apple slices?"

"Apple slices." Caroline says with biggest smile on her face

"Let me guess," The cashier looks at Caroline and smiles "Chocolate milk?"

"How did you know?" 

"You're around eighteen maybe nineteen years old and you're ordering a happy meal, while looking like you just won the lottery."

"Don't judge my happy meals." Caroline fake pouts and hands over her credit card

Zack orders his food, they collect their food and head back to Zacks car. "The cashier was flirting with you Caroline."

"He was just being nice." 

Zack shook his head, leaned over to Caroline and kissed her

Caroline wrapped her hands around his neck and kissed him back. She pulled away. "Not here."

"I know."

"Caroline! You're finally back!" yells Zoe looking up from her phone

"Hi Zoe! How was lunch?"

"It was really nice, emotional but nice." 

Caroline smiles "I'm sorry that they had to go back to the Carolina's instead of staying in Texas."

"You're named after the Carolina's aren't you?" Zoe laughs

"No, well, possibly." Caroline takes her tank top off "Oh crap. I forgot I am so sorry."

"Caroline. You can change in front of me, I'm not a nun." 

Caroline laughs "If I ever do something that makes you uncomfortable or isn't right. Tell me, I love you Zo, I want to be the best for you."

"I love you too North Carolina." Zoe says, and she burst out laughing

Caroline shakes her head "You are something else Zoe." but then Caroline starts laughing "Hey Zoe, I'm gonna go check on the boys, I had to break up a fight after you left." 

"Shirt Mathews!" Zoe yells throwing Caroline's shirt at her 

"You're the best Zo."

Caroline opens the boys' door and see's Zack full on making out with a girl. Caroline accidentally drops her phone to the floor. "I- I am so sorry."

"Caroline what the fuck? Ever heard of knocking?" 

Caroline feels hot tears in her eyes "Guess not right?" Caroline makes direct eye contact with the girl, Caroline picks up a red solo cup that's full of water and throws it at Zack.

"Caroline? What the hell?" Zack glares at her

The girl gets up and leaves. "I'm sorry she says on her way out."

"Don't be." Caroline says smiling at her

"Why are you so angry Caroline?"

"Where's Brandon? I should check his cuts." Caroline says dodging the question

"Caroline. Why are you so angry. It's not like we were dating. I don't date Caroline. Stop getting your hopes up." 

Carolines jaw drops and her eyes are flooded with hot tears, she notices that Zack has the look of regret glistening in his eyes "Why would I want to date you, you're just an asshole, like my ex."

This time Zacks jaw dropped "How the fuck am I like the ex that abused you Caroline?"

But Caroline had already left the room. She was already crying into Zoe's arms. And she wanted to be done with college.
