You know that strong, unbreakable bond between two people. This unknown willingness to be there for someone else, and how there is
this instant connection that no one else in the entire world could ever be able to acquire or could ever even begin to fathom. Well I have that, I can happily say that I Kacey Andrews am a best friend. There was this particular day that will forever stand out in my memory. When I was about sixteen years old, I met the most out of the ordinary and interesting person that I have until this very day have ever met. What I was not ready for was the fact that a certain girl, named Riley Scott, would become my confidant, my best friend, and we would never leave each other's sides from that day forward.
You see I am the emotional, sentimental, sappy kind of person, and on this particular day I sat on a park bench, alone. I sat huddled, with my knees touching my chin and my arms hugging my knees, emitting these horrible loud sobs as if my entire world was ending. But to be frank, in my defense, I felt this to be completely and utterly true at the time.
I soon felt this sudden weight being added to the park bench, and I tried so desperately to stop my endless flowing stream of tears. Before I could, I was handed a tissue, and a conversation that I will always be eternally grateful for.
"Hi, my name is Riley, Riley Scott, and I was running when I heard this loud deafening cry coming from what sounded as a wounded animal. Have you by any chance heard it?
I ended up sobbing louder at the fact that I knew that I loud, ugly cried and that this random girl was judging me in public. She had the audacity to laugh, this uncontrollable laughter that seemed to never end.
She continued to proceed by saying," I am merely joking with you. You do not sound like a wounded animal, I was just trying to lighten the mood. I think it worked since you are glaring daggers at me instead of crying as if happiness truly did not exist."
Her eyes crinkled as she laughed, and in that moment from finding out that my entire world turned upside from my recent break up to my friends' betrayal, I couldn't help it, I laughed. We ended up bonding over our crazy obsessions over books, and our similar taste in country music.
Riley in her fearless demeanor, ended up convincing me to toss my current sweatpants attire and messy bun in exchange for my wild, curly hair being let loose and a flowy dress.
She showed me what the true meaning of friendship was, and without even realizing it, she saved me from my never ending despair. She was there for me when no one else was, and even though we were complete opposites, it worked for us.
