Here Goes Nothing

The autumn wind was calming. It cooled the hot bedroom I was on my bed studying for a test when all of a sudden her mom called up to me.

"Sidney, it's time for bed."

"Okay, mom," I said. I got in my pajamas, brushed my teeth, put my phone on the charger, and crawled into bed. That's when it all began when I left the window open.

The next morning Sidney's mom went to wake Sidney up, but she wasn't in bed. Her bed was a mess, and her phone was on the floor. It looked like Sidney had put up a fight. Her mom didn't notice that the window was still open and there was a rope tied to the window.

I was in a room when she woke up. I had a big bruise on her arm which had a needle prick in it. I assumed that she had been drugged. I had no idea where or why I was there. Suddenly the door opened, and a man walked in. He was carrying a tray of food in.

"Are you hungry?" asked the man.

"Where am I and no, I'm not hungry," I said.

"A perfectly noble question. You are in Brazil." the man answered.

"Why am I in Brazil and why am I in this room?" I asked.

"You are in Brazil because of something your dad did years ago and because he owes us a lot of money and until he can pay us back, we are holding you hostage." "

Why does my dad owe you?"

"Because we helped him about 13 years ago and he never paid us back. Since you aren't going to eat, I will be leaving."

Back at the house police were examining every part of Sidney's bedroom for information that could help them figure out where she was. They knew she hadn't run away because the bedroom wouldn't be a disaster.

"Have you found anything yet?" asked Sidney's mom.

"No but we're getting close." replied the officer in charge, Officer Denton.

"Boss I found something; it looks like Sidney might have been drudged then hauled out the window."

"Good work Joe," replied Officer Denton.

"My daughter was drugged, hauled out of a window and we still don't know where she is?" asked my mom. "

Yes, but we are getting closer to figuring out where she is there anything that you know that might help us figure out who is behind her kidnapping and where she is?" asked Officer Denton.

"Well it could be that my husband Billy owes some people a lot of money and they did threaten that if we didn't pay them, they would kidnap our daughter, but I don't know where she is or even what Billy owes them for."

"I owe them because before you and I were married I asked them for a favor I can't tell you what the favor was because it was for my job at that time back when I was a top-secret spy, I owe them half a million dollars because I was an idiot and now they have my only daughter."

"Are there any pictures of her that we can start talking around the neighborhood and asking people around?"

"Yes, there are. Let me go get them." Replied Billy.

Back in Brazil I took off my earing, picked the lock on the chain that was holding me to the wall, then picked the lock on the door of my cell. I decided to run for safety. I made it out of the building and decided to run north because The USA is north of Brazil past Mexico then I must pass the border to the USA. It would be a long journey. I decided that I would need to get as far away from here as possible, get food and water, and find a place to rest.

"This is going to be fun," I said to myself then I started to run. I ran for miles with no stopping. Over the next few days, I ran and walked about 20 miles, stole food so I wouldn't starve. I also stole water and slept in people's barns. I had finally reached Mexico after about 6000 miles and I was almost to the border. I realized that I was much skinnier than I was when I woke up in Brazil. It took a few days for me to regain my strength for me to run across the border. FINALLY! I was across the border and about 8 days away from home if walking at a steady pace, so I started my extra journey. I had been considered missing for almost 2 months now. After those 8 days, I found Payson. In no time I was walking through my front doors. According to the clock, it was 6 AM and my parents were probably in bed worrying about me. I quietly walked up the stairs and crept into my parents' room they sat up and cried when they saw me. Pretty soon the guys that had kidnapped me were in custody and I never was worried about myself again.
